Currently, KFC is the most popular chicken fast food restaurant chain in the world, specializing in their same original recipe, as well as other new options such as extra crispy chicken, chicken nuggets, French fries, buttermilk biscuits and homestyle sides. There are around 18,000 KFC locations in the world spread across 115 countries and territories. Despite opening so many locations globally, the company has still not compromised on its famous fried chicken recipe even for a second.
You might associate making fried chicken with lots of work, but again, mine is a winner because it doesn't require a ton of hands-on preparation. It does take a little bit of time, but that's because there's marinating and frying to account for.
To cut down on preparing gf fried chicken the next time the mood strikes, consider making a big batch of seasoning and storing it for later. That way, when the family is begging for chicken, you just have to pull the seasoning from the pantry and move right on to the next step.
As you fry your copycat gluten free Kentucky fried chicken, bits and pieces of the coating will separate from the chicken. It won't be a lot if you followed my preparation tips to a tee, but those small fragments will continue to cook as you remove cooked chicken and add new pieces.
If you do have leftovers, you can store them in the fridge for 2 to 3 days. When it's time to reheat, I recommend popping your chicken into the oven for 10-15 minutes or until heated through. This is the best way to restore some of the chicken's crunch.
Personally, I've not tried making this KFC recipe with anything other than my basic gum-free gluten free flour blend, which contains white rice flour, potato starch, and tapioca starch. That's primarily because this blend has been absolutely perfect!
You can't rely on visual appearance when frying chicken as the coating will darken faster if your heat is too high, even if the inside still needs more time. For this reason, don't try to rush the process: Set your temperatures as I describe, and keep that thermometer handy.
I am lactose intolerant so used Lactose free milk with a tablespoon apple cider vinegar and coconut yogurt. I also used by air fryer. Took a little longer than the fryer, but maybe easier cleanup. Delicious. Thank you. I have been craving KFC and now I have it. Family liked it too.
Roxy, it should be very easy to make these dairy free. Just use a non-dairy milk such as coconut, almond, or rice milk. Add 3 tsp of apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice) to the non-dairy milk and let it set about 10 minutes-this makes your buttermilk. So Delicious brand makes a coconut milk yogurt I really like, there are almond brands out there too. Just be sure the brand you buy is gluten free and dairy free. Use one of these for the yogurt in this recipe. I hope this helps you. Enjoy!
The number of gluten-free sides is more impressive than the options at the first two restaurants, however. These include their chili and a wide range of baked potatoes and toppings. Best of all? The Frosty is gluten-free, too.
While KFC does not offer gluten-free Kentucky Fried Chicken, you can easily make your own at home. Make a lot of the seasoning blend, keep it on hand, and whip some up in no time. It is so delicious that it truly reminds me of my old KFC bucket days!
I had one gluten free recipe tester use a moderate amount of oil in a skillet, but not butter. Butter burns easily. She deep-fried the chicken but turned it over to finish frying instead of covering it with oil.

If you are gluten sensitive or have celiacs, you should not even have the KFC grilled. Gluten has a tendency to float in the air. Since the grilled is prepared in the same kitchen and not separated, then it is dangerous. Even the sides should be left alone.Even entering KFC is dangerous for some of us.
That is not true, sir. When the gluten is a powder, it can enter your mouth and nose just by breathing. And it is in every product that is on pork chops with a grain filled, gluten filled covering. And there are many meats and fish that restaurants put it on. And while the cooks are making food, gluten powder can easily become airborne and effect the digestive system of a person who has either the sensitivity or the disease itself.
The problem with eating out whether it be at the local KFC or other take away, most of the food is a no go area when you have a food allergy. All the food are off limits, at any of these places that provide a fast food service. It states it all at the beginning of the blog, that the flour is airbourne, that being the case even gluten free produce soon becomes non gluten free. Vote with your feet, be safe and walk away or past the door.

There should be enough oil to thinly cover the entire frying pan.Take a skinless, boneless chicken thigh, dunk it in the beaten egg mixture, then roll it in the spice mixture bowl until well coated. At this point, you could deep-fry the chicken until golden. If shallow-frying, place the coated chicken thigh into your garlic-infused olive oil in a frying pan.Fry it for about 30 seconds each side. Bear in mind that you don't want the coating to look all nice and golden like in the photos yet. We're not trying to cook the chicken or the coating here either, we're just sealing it until no floury patches are left.Flip it over and add a little more garlic-infused olive oil if the pan is looking dry. Be generous!Once both sides look yellow with no white floury patches, place on a baking try and repeat for all other chicken thighs. Then place in the oven at 200c for 10-12 minutes until crispy and golden. To make turn this recipe into popcorn chicken:1. Firstly, start with 2-3 chicken breasts cut into 2.5cm long, 1cm thick strips instead of chicken thighs.2. Start creating your spice blend by mixing all the dry ingredients in a big mixing bowl.3. Beat an egg in a separate bowl too.4. Heat some garlic-infused olive oil in a frying pan at a medium heat. There should be enough oil to thinly cover the entire frying pan.5. Take a chicken chunk, dunk it in the beaten egg mixture, then roll it in the spice mixture bowl until well coated.6. Place the coated chicken chunks into your garlic-infused olive oil in a frying pan - around 6 at a time.7. Fry it for about 2 minutes each side until they're totally cooked. Try and ensure all sides get a little oil on them and frying time.8. Serve up with your favourite dip.NotesIf you fry your coated chicken too long and they look nice and golden before they even go in the oven, they'll likely come out looking a little darker than you'd like! The more coated chicken you fry with the same oil, the more your frying pan will begin to become a little bit sludgy-looking from all the flour. If you intend to fry more than 6 pieces of chicken in the same oil, I'd recommend wiping all the sludgy bits out half way with kitchen roll first. Do it before they start burning and smoking!
This menu guide includes dairy-free menu options first, followed by custom order components. Be aware of special order requirements in parentheses () next to the menu items, and see the Heads Up notes to help fill in the blanks. The information below is for the U.S. locations. Many items are the same in Canada, but there are some differences. The U.K. has a vastly different menu, and more items contain dairy.
Heads Up! The Biscuits, Cornbread Muffin, Mashed Potatoes, and Gravy at KFC do all contain milk. KFC discontinued their Baked Beans, Corn on the Cob, Macaroni Salad, and Potato Salad in the U.S., which were dairy-free. In Canada, the Macaroni Salad and Potato Salad contain milk.
Canada: Plant-Based KFC by Lightlife is available. This is a meatless, vgan chicken sandwich that is reportedly prepared in a separate fryer from their chicken, but in the same fryer as their french fries. 2ff7e9595c
